Register now for the 2013 Kimmswick 5K

Sign up to fundraise; run for free and earn great perks and prizes

Registration is now open for the 3rd annual Kimmswick 5K, on Saturday, Aug. 17! So go here now to sign up!

Your registration includes your entry, a t-shirt, a box lunch from The Blue Owl Restaurant & Bakery and post-race thirst quenchers. If you're really speedy and finish in the top three of your age group, you’ll win one of The Blue Owl's famous pies. And for the first time, we’re introducing a new fundraising campaign that will give you the chance to get your race entry fee refunded, plus even more great perks and prizes, including a chance to win an iPad -- all while providing much-needed assistance.

Once again, we’re raising funds for the Nancy Ratliff Medical Fund and The ALS Association. Nancy continues to battle ALS with the love and support of family and friends. Her total paralysis -- with the sole exception of minimal eye movement -- and ventilator dependency require 24-hr nursing care at home, far exceeding her health insurance coverage and the family's resources. The Medical Fund helps to offset the catastrophic medical bills.

So please join us in our fundraising effort. Even if you can’t make it to the race, you can still participate. The more you raise, the more you'll receive!

Here's How It Works

Raise  And you'll receive
$100 One free race entry (or a race t-shirt if you’re not participating in the race)
One Fighting Lou Gehrig's Disease Wristband

$250 One free race entry (or a race t-shirt if you’re not participating in the race)
One Fighting Lou Gehrig's Disease Wristband
One Mini Levee High Apple Pie from The Blue Owl

$500 One free race entry (or a race t-shirt if you’re not participating in the race)
One Fighting Lou Gehrig's Disease Wristband
One 9-inch Levee High Apple Pie from The Blue Owl

PLUS For every $100 you raise, you’ll receive one entry into a race-day drawing for a  free iPad.

How to Get Started

  1. Register for the race
  2. Sign up to fundraise at Crowdrise, an online fundraising site for charity. You can fundraise individually or start a team by clicking on "Set Up Your Fundraiser."
  3. Recruit your family and friends to donate to your fundraiser, sponsor your run or walk and help you earn some great prizes! All donations are tax-deductible.

2012 Kimmswick 5K a smashing, soaking success

A massive thank you to everyone who came out to make the 2nd Annual Kimmswick 5K a smashing, soaking success. Over 500 people -- including a clown
(clowns are people, too!) and a rain-fearing FredbirdTM -- braved the uncanny weather and came together to raise over $25,000 dollars to fight ALS.
Extra special thanks to our dozens of volunteers, our presenting sponsor, The Blue Owl Restaurant & Bakery, as well as The ALS Association, Fleet Feet and our marquee sponsors - Carol House Furntiure, MSG Jewelers and Home Service Oil (who sent out a contingent to hand out water in the rain!). We couldn't have done it without you.

You can check out your results here: Overall | Age | Searchable

And you can see photos here.

Thanks so much, everyone. We're appreciative and blown away by your support once again.

Check out the T-shirts, y'all

Come out to the packet pickup on Thursday, Aug. 2, from 12-8 p.m. at Fleet Feet Fenton or on Friday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Mary's Sweet Shoppe in Kimmswick (next door to The Blue Owl) to pick up your bibs, bags and these baby blue bad boys:

Remember, if you didn't register by July 20, you're not guaranteed a T-shirt, so the earlier you get to packet pickup, the better, as the shirts will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. We hope to have enough shirts for everyone, but the earlier you pick up your stuff, the better your chances are of securing your shirt.

And thanks again to Katie Niehoff at Physique Design for designing these things.

Announcing the 2nd annual Kimmswick 5K

Join us on Saturday, Aug. 4, for the second annual Kimmswick 5K and 1-mile walk & fun run, presented by The Blue Owl Restaurant and Bakery, as we raise funds to fight ALS. And stick around afterward for food and refreshments, participant prizes (Blue Owl's famous pies), live music, a raffle, a silent auction and more.

We were overwhelmed by the turnout at last year's inaugural event -- of those who ran, walked, volunteered, donated and came in from out of town (we had participants from 10 different states) -- and we're ready to build off that success.
